If you spend long hours looking at the computer, either for work or for fun, you may find that your eyes feel strained and tired more frequently. Fortunately, there are options to help you with computer vision. At Albuquerque Vision Care and Advanced Eyewear, we help our patients deal with computer vision syndrome. We want everyone in the Albuquerque area to have good vision and take proper care of the health of their eyes.

What Is Computer Vision?

Computer vision syndrome is caused by spending a lot of time looking at a computer screen. Not only can it lead to eyes that feel tired, dry, and gritty, but it can also cause blurry vision and related kinds of disturbances. Some people are bothered by it more than others, and things like age and overall health can make a difference, as well. In order to reduce its impact, there are some things you can do.

What Are the Treatment Options for Computer Vision Syndrome?

Talking with our eye doctor about the length of time you spend on the computer versus away from it can help our doctor work out treatment options for you. Our optometrist may recommend that you take a 15- or 20-minute break every couple of hours, for example. We may also recommend that you stop every 20 minutes, and look at something further away for a few seconds. Eye drops, filtering out the blue light emitted from your computer’s screen, and other options can also help you reduce computer vision issues.

You Don’t Have to Simply Deal with the Symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome

If you're in the Albuquerque area and are looking for an optometrist to help with computer vision issues, Albuquerque Vision Care and Advanced Eyewear is here to help. We understand that reducing your use of the computer may not be possible, especially if you're using a computer for work. However, finding a way to make things easier on your eyes is important. Our eye doctor can work with you on good solutions that will be right for your needs.
