Beginning May 1st, 2020 we will be seeing patients by appointment only.
As part of Govenor Michelle Lujan Grisham's initiative to reopen the state, we are re-opening on a limited schedule by appointment only. We are working to re-schedule patient who originally had appointments at the end of March and the month of April, and were cancelled due to the COVID-19 public health order. While we will continue to accept appointments for all patient’s at this time, we ask our patient’s to understand delays due to rescheduling.
Our focus is to preserve and enhance your sight!
We are working hard to serve all our patients’ needs safely during this time of crisis. Below we have listed many of the precautions and changes we have implemented, and the steps we are asking our patients to take to help us keep everyone safe. As an essential business, we are following all guidelines to ensure proper social distancing and other appropriate measures are taken.
What are we doing?
Here at AVC we are working hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by minimizing the number of patients admitted into the office at any given time. We are only accepting patients into the office by appointment to provide you with safe and personal eye care. We are disinfecting all equipment and eyewear between patient visits. Our office cleaning procedures remain one of our top priorities to ensure we all stay well. All staff are taking personal protective measures and go through screening daily, when they come into the office, to ensure they are symptom free. All AVC Staff have been properly trained on protective measures and social distancing requirements.
What are we asking our patients to do?
Call (505) 332-2020 to schedule an appointment. We are requiring appointments for all services.
· Comprehensive/Medical Examinations
· Optical orders
· Optical dispensing of glasses
· Glasses repairs and adjustments
· Contact lens dispenses
If you have an appointment:
o If you are unable to keep your appointment time, we would appreciate your call as soon as possible to cancel. Due to the limited scheduling availability, each appointment time is valuable. If you are running late, we will need to reschedule appointment. We are scheduling appointment times to ensure we are not in violation of the social distancing requirements.
o If you should become sick (fever, tiredness, dry cough, or difficulty breathing) or come in contact with someone who is sick before your scheduled appointment, we are asking you to call and reschedule your appointment immediately. We will be asking all patients upon arrival if they are sick or have been in contact with someone who is sick and will be conducting a temperature screening to ensure patients are not showing symptoms. If we are unable to allow admittance into the office due to any of the above factors, we are doing so with the greatest concern for all patient and staff safety and wellbeing and to remain compliant with all orders and guidelines.
o We ask that you come to your visit alone, unless you need assistance. To limit the number of people in our office under the social distancing rules, we are unable to have family members, friends, or other people waiting in the office during patient visits. If you are bringing someone with you to your appointment to assist you, please inform us prior to your appointment time.
o If you have a mask, please wear it to your visit.
o If you are needing assistance in our optical with your glasses, please let us know ahead of your appointment time, so we may schedule you time with our optician.
It is our pleasure to continue to serve our patients and community. Thank you for reading and adhering to our COVID-19 patient care guidelines. Together we can help keep everyone safe!
Sincerely,

Albuquerque Vision Care patients and families,
We are monitoring closely and diligently the evolving COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”) pandemic and the rapidly changing government responses as they happen. As healthcare providers, we intend to be here for you so long as the situation allows. Signs and symptoms in the eyes may be some of the earliest COVID-19 manifestations.
For the protection of all of our patients and staff, we are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for outpatient healthcare facilities including universal precautions against infection. We are doing everything possible to mitigate the risk of developing any illness, while visiting our office. These precautions and policies have been in force at our clinic even before this current challenge, though we have reinforced and amplified these efforts.
If you have experienced fever, cough, shortness of breath, or any other flu-like symptoms within the past 72 hours, or you have traveled to an infected area within the past 14 days, please call our office to reschedule your appointment.
You may be at higher risk of COVID-19-related complications if you are elderly, have underlying medical conditions (heart disease, diabetes, lung disease) or are at higher risk for complications from respiratory diseases, such as pregnant women.
We are here for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Drs. Berry, Dunn, Fergeson, and Vise and your Albuquerque Vision Care team
